What does BeADisciple offer?

Since 2006, BeADisciple has offered affordable and accessible online courses related to Christian ministry and discipleship, most of which offer CEU options.

Where do I find course information?

Click here for the course catalog. The course pages found there provide information on the instructor, course dates, CEUs, etc.

What time commitment should I expect?

BeADisciple courses vary widely in scope and rigor and can range from 1-12 weeks in length. Generally, courses will require approximately an hour of participation and study daily.

How do I enroll in a course?

On each course page, you will find an “Enroll Now” link. If the course is open for enrollment, a form will open to gather your information and payment. If the course is not yet open for enrollment, you will see a button where you can “Click here to be notified when new dates are available.” Enrollment closes at 6 a.m. Central time on the first day of the course. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, AmEx, and JCB.

What happens to my credit card information?

The Institute for Discipleship and BeADisciple.com do not retain or store credit card information in any form. Payments are processed through a secure server at Authorize.net and will appear on your credit card statement as “Southwestern College IFD.”  We cannot take credit card information in writing, through email, over the phone, or by any other method.

What is the refund policy?

Full refunds are given for any reason until 5 p.m. Central time on the Wednesday before the course begins. No refunds are granted after this time except for courses cancelled by BeADisciple.com.

Where do I find resources for instructors?

Current Instructors: Active instructors can find resources, trainings, tutorials, course submission forms, and other links at the Instructor Resource Library, available through Blackboard. Look for IFD100R in your courses page after logging in.

Prospective Instructors: If you are interested in leading courses with BeADisciple.com, the first step is to enroll in the Instructor Training course. Please contact Lori Richey, Director of Online Education.

Blackboard FAQs

What is Blackboard?

Blackboard is the online software platform that hosts all BeADisciple courses. The Blackboard information page will provide all of the information needed to access and engage with BeADisciple courses.

What are the hardware requirements?

Blackboard should work seamlessly on any supported internet browser. Click here to check whether your browser is supported and up-to-date enough to run Blackboard.

Will Blackboard work on my phone or tablet?

Most BeADisciple courses will work on smartphones and tablets, but our courses are designed to run optimally on a desktop or laptop computer. Due to technical limitations, we do not recommend using the Blackboard Mobile app.

When will my course be available?

Courses will be made available to learners by 10 a.m. Central time on the Monday of their start date. Courses will not be available in Blackboard prior to this time. Once the course is open and available, a welcome email will be sent to learners with login instructions.

How do I access my course?

BeADisciple courses are accessed through the “Go To Blackboard” link from the navigation bar of any BeADisciple.com webpage, or by navigating to the Blackboard environment via web browser according to instructions provided on the Monday morning (via email) that the course begins. We encourage learners to bookmark the Blackboard login page for ease of access.

Why can't I see my course after logging in?

Providing that you are enrolled in a course, there are two typical causes. First, the course hasn’t yet been opened to learners, meaning that it will not show up on your Blackboard course list. If your course is already in progress and disappears from your course list, this is likely due to a time-out – in which case clearing your internet cache and/or re-logging in will solve the problem. I have a problem. Where do I go for help?

Please see the Blackboard support page first for possible solutions. If unsuccessful, please fill out a Blackboard Error Report Form (available from that page, or from the “Questions?” link above). Lastly, you can use the contact form below to request help. Be as detailed as possible regarding your concern.

Who do I contact for course-related problems?

The course instructor is your first point of contact once the course begins and is accessible through the e-mail tool in your Blackboard course menu. If you need further assistance, you may contact the BeADisciple staff using the form below.
